Introduction
Guiding You Through Every Step
1. TESA (Testicular Sperm Aspiration)
Surgical Extraction of Sperm for Male Fertility Treatments
Procedure:
The TESA process involves several key steps:
- Surgical Process:
Using a fine needle, sperm is aspirated directly from the testicular tissue under. This quick and minimally invasive technique is often performed as an outpatient procedure. - Examination:
Once collected, the testicular tissue is examined by an Embryologist under a microscope to identify viable spermatozoa that can be used for fertility treatments.
Indications:
TESA is recommended for men who:
- Have obstructive azoospermia
- Are unable to ejaculate sperm due to medical conditions.
- Have had failed vasectomy reversal or other testicular blockages.
2. Semen Banking
Preserving Your Fertility for the Future
Benefits of Semen Banking:
Military Personnel:
Semen banking is an excellent option for military personnel deployed overseas or in high-risk environments, allowing them to preserve their fertility before deployment.
Cancer Patients:
Men undergoing cancer treatments like chemotherapy or radiation therapy, which can harm sperm production, can benefit greatly from banking their sperm before starting treatment.
Other Situations:
Semen banking can be beneficial in other situations, such as before vasectomy, prior to hormonal treatments for gender transition, or for men with conditions that may impact future fertility.
Process:
Collection:
Sperm samples are collected either through ejaculation or surgical retrieval methods like TESA, depending on the patient’s situation. The sample is then processed in a laboratory to ensure optimal preservation.
Storage:
The processed sperm is frozen using cryoprotectants and stored securely in a specialized facility for long-term use. Samples can be stored for years, offering patients the flexibility to start a family when they are ready.
